Having rather unpleasant experiences as a student during my K-12 years, I never dreamed of attending college. Most of my high school career was spent in books— ones I found in libraries, never the assigned ones—and goofing off with friends. All of those books eventually caught up to me and produced some pretty powerful unintended consequences.
After graduating college, I worked in operations management and found myself only enjoying the portion of the job involving coaching and teaching others. I took a leap of faith and quit my cushy job to pursue advanced degrees in the study of myth and depth psychology.
During graduate school, I worked as an LGBTQ+ homeless youth counselor and domestic violence counselor. Then, I found work as a tutor and substitute instructor at public high schools. My first full-time teaching assignment was at a private high school, working alongside youth with various learning challenges. My higher education teaching career began at a vocational college designing and delivering various business and writing courses. At that time, I also began working for an online university—and I am very proud to say that, after 5 years of service, I had worked with learners representing every single US state, and many countries too!
I’m currently teaching high school students full-time, occasionally teach graduate learners, and privately tutor.
